What to Do While Waiting on God to Fulfill Your Dreams

by Joyce Dunaway @DunawayJoyce

You may wonder why it’s taking God so long to answer your prayers. You feel you’re following His leading, but nothing is happening—no agent, no contest awards—only rejections and disappointments.

God is working behind the scenes setting up the perfect timing for you to achieve your dreams. He expects us to do our best and be prepared for the next step.

Following are some things you can do while waiting on God to fulfill your dreams:

WORK

Work as if you have a deadline. As a writer, you will have to complete your manuscript according to your editor’s time frame.

STUDY

Learn as much as you can about your craft so your writing will improve with each manuscript. There are numerous craft books available written by successful authors. Workshops and classes are available on-line and at conferences.

READ

It is through reading that your mind becomes infused with the flow of words. It’s especially important to read the genre you’re writing so you become familiar with its formula.

NETWORK

Attending conferences where you make contacts with agents, editors, and other writers often results in appointments that will further your career.

BUILD A PLATFORM

In today’s marketplace it’s essential to have a strong social media presence. Besides Facebook and Twitter, a website is beneficial. Blogging could help you make connections with people of similar interests. Writing a newsletter will build a base so when you’re published you will have a solid foundation of followers.

I would love to hear how waiting on God has helped you in the pursuit of your dreams. Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.
