Things to Celebrate While Pursuing Your Dreams

by Joyce Dunaway @DunawayJoyce

Sometimes we focus on the celebration we’ll have when we achieve our dreams.

But there are also reasons to celebrate along the journey.

Following are some things to celebrate while pursuing your dreams:

REJECTIONS

Those rejection letters hurt. But instead of allowing them to discourage you, let them be a catalyst for change. Determine to improve your areas of weakness. Some rejection letters offer hope. One of the letters I received said I have writing talent and the agent requested my next manuscript.

CRITIQUES

It’s often scary to submit your work for critique either from a professional writer or in a critique group. Feedback helps us see our work from someone else’s viewpoint. Suggestions often help us see how our writing can be strengthened. Of course, you’re the author so it’s your decision whether to incorporate these suggestions.

CONTESTS

Whether you win the contest, are a finalist or semi-finalist, you can celebrate the achievement of this milestone.

ACCEPTANCE BY AN AGENT

A highlight of a writer’s life is signing a contract with an agent. This is a big step to celebrate.

PUBLICATION

The publication of your novel or magazine means you have achieved one of your major writing goals. The thrill of holding that book or magazine is exhilarating.

REQUESTS

Most writers want to continue their success. When a publishing company signs you for a three or four book series, there is major rejoicing.

I would love to hear the things you celebrate while pursuing your dreams. Please share your thoughts in the section below.
