The ABC’S of Achieving Your Dreams

by Joyce Dunaway @DunawayJoyce

When you were learning the alphabet at home or at school, it may have seemed difficult. But the accomplishment was worth it.

An Olympic athlete spends thousands of hours preparing for competition—often sacrificing personal desires. With a gold medal around his neck, he won’t be having regrets for the discipline.

The same may be true as you strive to achieve your dreams. The task is difficult, but the rewards will outshine the obstacles.

Following are the ABC’s of achieving your dreams:

ACTION

The dictionary describes action as the accomplishment of something usually over a period of time, in stages.

Taking action is necessary to reach your goals. Daydreaming and wishing will not get results.

It helps to divide the big dream into smaller goals. As you succeed in each step, you will be getting closer to the rewards of fulfillment.

BELIEF

Belief is defined as a state or habit of mind in which trust or confidence is placed in some person or thing.

Believing that with God’s help, guidance, and strength you can achieve your dream will keep you moving forward.

CONSISTENCY

Consistency is a pattern of behavior involving regularity.

Working daily toward a goal will keep your thoughts flowing—even if you only do one small thing.

By skipping days, weeks, or months you will lose your momentum. Beginning again will be like starting over.

I would love to hear how any of these characteristics have helped you on your journey. Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.
